Stonegate Village Metropolitan District (SVMD) is a governmental entity that was formed per Title 32 of the Colorado Revised State Statutes to perform specific services for the residents and businesses located within the District boundaries. The functions that SVMD provide are primarily related to parks and recreation and water and sanitation services. The District maintains and manages the common space throughout Stonegate, as well as the pool and parks. In addition, the District provides potable water to residents and businesses, and treats effluent water for irrigation of common open space for Stonegate, Lincoln Park and Compark Metro Districts. SVMD also provides wastewater treatment services for all 3 Districts. See all Districts Map here.
The services and facilities are maintained and operated by funds received either through property taxes or fees. For example, residents can review their property tax bill from Douglas County and see an assessment for Stonegate Village Metropolitan District. These taxes go primarily to pay off the debt that was incurred to build the water and wastewater treatment facilities. Property owners also assist in these services by paying fees - the monthly park and recreation fee that shows up on the utility bill is used to maintain the open space and park facilities. The water and sewer fees are used for operation, maintenance, and long-term replacement of the water and waste water treatment facilities.
The District is governed by an elected Board of Directors. They serve either two or four year terms and can serve for a total of eight years. The Board meetings are open to the public and are held on the third Wednesday of the month at 2 Inverness Drive East, Suite 200, Englewood, CO 80112. (Your Board Members) The annual budget meeting is also open to the public and is held at the community center in either October or November. Watch our website for exact date and location.
The District has no permanent staff, but instead receives it's services through contractual employees. This reduces the costs to the taxpayers for benefits and overhead expenses. The District is managed by Mulhern MRE, and they can be reached at 303-858-9909.
